Hummingbird has restarted operations at its Yanfolila gold mine

Resources Hummingbird has restarted operations at its Yanfolila gold mine in Mali following an improving security situation that forced the company to shut down operations at its only producing mine earlier this week.

The company said the Malian government had intervened to remove illegal roadblocks and restore law and order in the region.

“All employees and contractors have been safely taken care of, with Malian national government staff remaining in place as the Yanfolila mine begins to return to normalized production levels,” he said.

Hummingbird warned Monday that the shutdown would affect full-year production, placing it below the lower end of the 2021 benchmark range. The miner expected to produce between 100,000 and 110,000 ounces of gold from of Yanfolila this year. The mine is located in southern Mali, near the border with Guinea.
