Human Rights Violators, US Oaths to Demand Ebrahim Raisi’s Accountability

WASHINGTON White House say president-elect Iran , Ibrahim Raisi , will be held responsible for human rights violations (HAM). The White House also confirmed that President United States of America (AS) Joe Biden had no plans to meet with Raisi.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Raisi would certainly be held accountable for human rights abuses under her watch.

Raisi is a judicial official in the Iranian regime as well as a hardline cleric. He is currently still under US sanctions for his role in the 1988 mass execution of political prisoners.

“Going forward, we strongly urge the Iranian government regardless of who is in power to release political prisoners, promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all Iranians,” Psaki said. Washington Times, Tuesday (22/6/2021).

Psaki noted that the US and Iran do not have diplomatic relations, and Biden has no intention of meeting him.

He also argued that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni was the one who took the decision to revive the nuclear deal with the US and other world powers. Indirect US-Iran talks in Geneva are said to be making progress towards a deal, possibly before Raisi’s inauguration in August.

“The president’s view, and ours, is that the decision maker here is the supreme leader,” Psaki said.
