Huge hype in Berlin! Showmen demonstrate at the Brandenburg Gate – BZ Berlin

They rolled up loudly at noon, looked like they were going to build the next big fair in Berlin, but far from it … demo of the showmen!

In front of the Brandenburg Gate, around 1,600 showmen from all over Germany protested for the lifting of the corona restrictions – with an auto scooter and a Ferris wheel gondola!

With the hand on the horn, around 1,000 vehicles with deafening noise came from the north to the Brandenburg Gate. There it looked like hustle and bustle, thanks to driving attractions and candy floss, but it wasn’t!

The ban on large-scale events until at least the end of October is in fact equivalent to a professional ban, argued the showmen and complained about unequal treatment of the easing. When restaurants are open again and pedestrian zones are full, the fun fair business in the fresh air must be allowed again.

“If our children are allowed to sit together in the paddling pool in the outdoor pool, it must also be possible for them to be able to ride a carousel together,” said association president Albert Ritter. “If it is again allowed to fly tightly on the plane to Mallorca, it must be allowed to sit side by side in a bumper car.”

Paula Wollenschläger (20) also sees it that way. The young woman from Brandenburg holds a sign saying “No drop in sales, but € 0.00 for half a year!”. She tells BILD that her family business is on the brink. “Our livelihoods depend on it. We prefer to work rather than get support. ”

Their last earnings would have been at the autumn fair or Christmas markets in 2019. now more than 5000 family businesses are massively threatened, the association said.
