Huawei P50 Pro Released Globally January 12, Here’s the Price

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Huawei has revealed the global launch date of its latest flagship phone via a post on one of its social media, which says that Huawei P50 Pro will air on January 12th.

Mobile it was first announced in July 2021 for China and went on sale a month later domestically. That launch was followed by the recent release of the vanilla variant – Huawei P50 – in October 2021.

Note here that there are a few things where the global variant of Huawei P50 Pro differs from the Chinese version. For starters, the global model will run EMUI 12 and not HarmonyOS 2 — although the overall user experience should be the same in both.

But the main difference lies in the processor department, where the global P50 Pro will come with a Snapdragon 888 chip instead of the Kirin 9000 5G on the domestic version.

Now, the Qualcomm booth will certainly take this as good news considering that Snapdragon chips continue to dominate the Android world in terms of performance. But the inclusion of the Snapdragon 888 chip in the P50 Pro comes with a major snag — the lack of 5G support.

Obviously, the main reason behind this mess is the ‘Huawei ban’ by the US which has put a lot of barriers on the company from using 5G chips. This, combined with the fact that Huawei only has a limited stock of the Kirin 9000 5G chip, means the global P50 will have to make do with the Snapdragon 888 4G.

Moving on to the specifications, the Huawei P50 Pro comes with a 6.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1228 x 2700 and support for 120Hz. The camera setup on the back consists of a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, complemented by a 13MP ultrawide and 64MP telephoto sensor. On the front, you get a 13MP camera, housed in the center punch-aligned hole.

The phone is backed by a 4,360mAh battery that can charge on 66W wired and 50W wireless. The phone measures 158.8 x 72.8 x 8.5 mm, weighs 195g, comes with an IP68 rating. Its price for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage stands at 6,488 yuan.
