Huawei Launches XMAGE Awards 2023 with $100,000 Prize Money for Smartphone Photographers

Last week, Huawei officially launched the annual Huawei XMAGE Awards 2023 competition, which invites Huawei smartphone users to rediscover the beauty of photography by highlighting unique and amazing photos and videos captured around the world with Huawei smartphone camera technology. Since 2017, users from more than 170 countries and regions have participated in this competition, collecting nearly 4 million entries so far.

“This year’s XMAGE Awards with the slogan “Inspire the world” invites every photographer and photo art enthusiast, regardless of previous experience and level of preparation, to look for inspiration in their photos and videos, indulge in creativity and become a new trendsetter, creating their own unique style of photography and shooting. We invite all Huawei users in Latvia to submit their masterpieces full of creativity, inspiration and energy to compete for one of the valuable prizes and show the world how talented people are in Latvia,” says Lauris Kupčs, Huawei CBG Marketing Communication Manager in Latvia.

This year, the competition focuses on inspiring creativity in the following categories: Night Walk (Night Walk), Portrait (Portrait), Art and Fashion (Art & Fashion), Open air (Outdoor), Greetings to Life (Hello Life), Narrative (Storyboard), In motion (Action) and Storytelling (Storytelling). The latest ‘Night Walk’ category encourages contestants to capture the wondrous and mysterious night life using Huawei’s range of industry-leading camera features.

The following awards will be presented in the competition 1:

  • 3 grand prize winners will receive $10,000 in cash prizes and an electronic certificate;

  • Winners in 24 categories will receive cash prizes worth $1,500 and an electronic certificate;

  • 27 runners-up will receive cash prizes worth $1,000 and an electronic certificate;

  • 5 prize winners will receive cash prizes worth US$500 and an electronic certificate.

In order to evaluate the performance of the participants and the diverse applications, a new set of judges was also invited. There will be five professional judges: Chen Xiaobo, Vice President of the Chinese Photographers Association (Chen Xiaobo), fashion photographer Pei Tongtong (Pei Tongtong) from China, landscape photographer Jose Ramos (Jose Ramos) from Portugal, portrait photographer Jessica Chromas (Jessica Hromas) from Australia and Huawei Consumer Business Group Vice President of Marketing Li Changzhou (Li Changzhu) from China.

The deadline for submission of works for the XMAGE competition began on April 7, 2023 and will end on August 15, 2023 at 18:59 (GMT+3). To submit your application, interested parties can visit the unified global application page or use Huawei’s website. Entries must be images or videos taken with a Huawei smartphone, and there are no restrictions on the time of entry or Huawei smartphone models.
