HTC announces Meta Quest 2 to compete with new head-mounted device HTC Vive XR Elite is now available for pre-order

The annual Consumer Electronics Show CES 2023 was held on Friday (6) Hong Kong time. HTC released a new Vive XR Elite head-mounted device at CES 2023. This all-in-one head-mounted VR device is known as competition from Meta Quest 2. The Adversary, which has opened pre-orders on Amazon, is expected to officially launch in February, with a retail price of US$1,099 (about HK$8,585).

The HTC Vive XR Elite’s appearance is simpler than ordinary VR headsets. The front of the device is only a few centimeters thicker, and the battery is placed in the rear headrest, so the back is heavier than the front, which it can reduce the weight of the user’s face when wearing it. However, at 625 grams, the Vive XR Elite is heavier than the Meta Quest 2 at 503 grams.

HTC Vive XR Elite features 4K resolution, each eye position has a 2K screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz and offers a 110-degree field of view. Vive XR Elite uses Snapdragon XR2 chipset, has 12GB RAM and 120GB ROM, and can store games on Vive XR Elite.

In addition, Vive XR Elite can also be connected to the gaming PC driver via the USB-C cable to enhance the resolution of the VR experience. The Vive XR Elite’s battery is rated for two hours and offers 30W fast charging, which can be half-charged in just 30 minutes.

The detachable cloth gasket on the body can increase the user’s comfort when wearing it, and it is also easier to clean and replace. And each eye position has a built-in cross-eyed mirror, so most users can take off their glasses when using the Vive XR Elite. The Vive XR Elite can be folded up and stored in a case like sunglasses for easy transport.
