A private military company under various names has been present in Ukraine since before the official Russian army entered the country. We are watching the Wagner company and we have noticed that about 100-120 people from it have entered Ukrainian territory. In the following weeks, many more came in and most of them were eliminated by the Ukrainian army.
This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by the investigative journalist Hristo Grozev, executive director and chairman of the board of the investigative publication Bellingcat.
According to him, this is the worst part of the war because it is an uncontrolled paramilitary organization funded by various oligarchs. Grozev claims that part of the funding comes from the so-called “personal cook” of Russian President Vladimir Putin – Evgeny Prigogine, and the other part comes from the sons and sons-in-law of generals of Russian military intelligence.
“It’s a lucrative business, they get money from the Ministry of Defense. They don’t follow the laws of war. They can commit murders without applying the Geneva Convention. They can be sent on an assassination list. For example, members of the Wagner group said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was on their list. Losses among their members are not reported to the public in Russia. This is an advantage for the Kremlin to use these forms, “Grozev said.
According to him, at this stage of the investigation the identity of 150 FSB officers with the task of developing a network of their agents in Ukraine, who are politicians and journalists, bloggers, people who can influence public opinion, has been established.
“Each of them has met with his agents in expensive destinations around the world, such as the Maldives. The total amount spent for 7 years is huge. The result is practically nil, because this agency network did not help the Russian invasion. These are opposition parties. “They have even funded a movement with liberal views, which has allowed itself to be criticized by the Kremlin,” he added.
According to him, about two weeks ago, sources in Russia expressed concern that Putin was furious and could resort to desperate measures by using nuclear weapons to change the narrative.
“To date, their view is that he is too weak to do so. There are five people between him and the red button to fulfill the order. At this stage, there are at least two of them who will not fulfill it because they will not. “There is someone to defend them in a future Nuremberg trial. These people know the losses of the war. They have a very good idea of how weak Putin will be in three or four months,” said the investigative journalist.
According to him, there is no case in history in which a statesman imposes such a high price, including on his elite, and they leave him in his place.
