– BCAST plans to continue experimental emissions in the cities served so far (Wrocław, Warsaw, Gdansk). In July, we (the Company) submitted an application to UKE. Confirmation of the possibility of conducting the broadcast and the definition of the conditions for the use of frequencies is awaited. After accepting the applications and the new conditions, we expect the services to resume within 2 weeks, it should be in September – explained Katarzyna Adamczyk, PR specialist at Cyfrowy Polsat in an interview with Wirtualnemedia.pl in early August. Winnicki multiplexes are preparing to switch to DVB-T2 / HEVC
No decisions have been made because the senders have not yet completed the formalities. – We are working to complete the attachments to the Szczecin and Katowice applications. There is no rush on our part, as many people still do not have DVB-T2 / HEVC TVs – explains Michał Winnicki, owner of the MWE Group, in an interview with Wirtualnemedia.pl. The National Media Institute estimates that 1.1 million households do not yet have tuners or televisions compatible with the new standard.
The creator of the MWE group informs that his company has submitted a series of documents for the experimental transmission in Amelin near Radomsko. – This is a preparation for switching from MUX L3 to DVB-T2 / HEVC. First, we will start an experimental broadcast in Amelin and Katowice, then a permanent broadcast in DVB-T2 / HEVC from the new broadcast facilities in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Częstochowa and in the vicinity of Kamieńsko – reveals Winnicki. Most local multiplexes don’t need to upgrade to DVB-T2 / HEVC yet. The decision is therefore in the hands of their operators. Winnicki previously revealed that after changing the standard, its multiplexes’ programming offering could be extended.
