TRIBUN-BALI.COM – Cervical cancer is the third most common in the world after breast cancer and colorectal or digestive tract cancer.

On the other hand, cervical cancer is called the silent killer.

This nickname is not without reason.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist Consultant Obgyn Oncology, dr. Yudi Ardiansah Eka Sp OG (K) Onk said every year, 530 thousand new cases of cervical cancer occur in women worldwide.

“The death rate is up to 270 thousand worldwide,” he said on the Sonora FM YouTube channel, quoted by Tribunnews, Wednesday (12/29/2021).

Then who is at risk of cervical cancer?

Dr. Yudi said that this cancer was caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

The spread of the virus generally comes from sexual contact.

“So people, if a partner is loyal to only a partner, not mutually, it is possible that the virus will transfer HPV minimal. Almost nothing,” added Dr. Yudi.

He also said the occurrence of cervical cancer is about 99.9 percent of women HPV.
