JAKARTA – Hypoxemia and hypoxia are one of the symptoms of Covid-19 patients to watch out for.

Hypoxemia is a condition of decreased oxygen levels in the blood. If it continues, it can lead to a lack of oxygen in body tissues. Well, that’s what came to be called Hypoxia.

Covid-19 makes the patient’s condition deteriorate slowly, due to a decrease in oxygen levels in the blood.

Now the oxygen saturation in the blood (SpO2) can actually be detected easily through a tool called an Oxymeter or Pulse Oxymeter. The device is usually also equipped with a patient’s heart rate (HR = heart rate).

For the record, the normal level of SpO2 is 85%-100%. On the other hand, if the Pulse Oximeter shows an SPO2 below 85%, there will be a reduced level of blood oxygen saturation. So, you may need oxygen therapy.

Without a Pulse Oxymeter, the patient will not be able to know that the oxygen in his body is very low.

Therefore, doctor Richard Levitan of Bellevue Hospital in New York recommends that people have the device.
Especially for those who are positive after doing a PCR test or Antigen Swab.

Its function is to detect early if there is a decrease in oxygen saturation in the body and quickly take preventive steps.

Well, this Pulse Oximeter is actually also owned by smartwatches or smartbands that have been sold in the market.

One of them is Mi Smart Band 6 which is priced at around Rp. 500 thousand.

By monitoring SpO2 levels in the body regularly, at least consumers can detect early one of the symptoms of Covid-19.

Namely, when the oxygen saturation in the blood decreases. So, as soon as possible they can immediately consult a doctor.

How to use it is easy. Just touch the SpO2 menu, then position the smartband facing up, and don’t move too much.

SpO2 measurements in this smartband can take more than 15 seconds.

Of course, Xiaomi said that the Mi Smart Band 6 was not a medical device. However, it is only the initial stage of detecting oxygen saturation in the blood. If it is brought normal, then consumers can consult further to the doctor.
