Regarding security and privacy features, WhatsApp also has one of the features they offer, namely: Fingerprint Lock.
Fingerprint is a feature with the ability to lock the WhatsApp application with biometric security.
When a user activates the Fingerprint feature, the user must use their fingerprint to open WhatsApp, even after unlocking the phone.
However, users can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls if WhatsApp is locked, as reported by the official page WhatsApp.
This feature comes as an added security to help ensure that you are the only person who can access WhatsApp on your phone.
Reported from Pocket-lint, you can enable the Fingerprint feature in the Privacy settings menu of the app. There you’ll also find the option to leave the app unlocked for a minute or 30 after you open it, as well as the option to set notifications.
How to enable Fingerprint Lock
Here’s how to enable Fingerprint on WhatsApp:
Android
- Open WhatsApp on your phone
- Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the phone screen
- Select Settings
- Select Account menu
- Choose Privacy
- Select Fingerprint Lock
- Turn on Unlock with fingerprint, then confirm your fingerprint
iOS
- Open WhatsApp on your phone
- Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the phone screen
- Select Settings
- Select Account
- Choose Privacy
- Select unlock screen
- Turn on Touch ID or Face ID
- You can then choose the amount of time before Touch ID or Face ID is prompted.
How to disable Fingerprint Lock
If you have activated Fingerprint Lock on WhatsApp and want to deactivate it again, follow the steps below:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone
- Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the phone screen
- Select Settings
- Select Account
- Choose Privacy
- Select Fingerprint Lock
- Disable the switch for ‘Unlock with fingerprint’
