The cycle path from Hchberg to Wrzburg ends at the height of the path to the New World. How should cyclists continue from there and is an alternative in sight?

Why does a bike path in the Leistenstrasse suddenly end in nothing? Main Post reader Fritz Karl from Hchberg of the city of Wrzburg would like to have answered this question. According to Karl, it is almost impossible for cyclists in town to cross the three-lane lane at the Lidl supermarket to get to the other side of the street. He would therefore like to know whether the city is planning an improvement for cyclists at this point.
Cyclists have to stop
However, the Leistengrund cycle path does not end just in front of Lidl, but at the point where the path to the New World joins. Therefore, cyclists who want to behave correctly must use the pedestrian traffic light there to get to the other side of the street and continue on mixed roads on the Leistenstrasse.

The cycle path marked in red is only open to cyclists from the city. On-site observations have shown that the majority of two-wheeler users do not allow themselves to take their swing down the mountain and sometimes continue on the wrong side to the intersection at the Lwenbrcke and also use the sidewalk.
Risk potential is high
The editors asked the city whether an improvement in the cycle guidance is planned at this point. According to municipal press spokesman Christian Wei, there are several reasons why the Leistengrund cycle path could not be continued: The sidewalk is too narrow, there are too many entrances and exits and there are too many pedestrians on the way. “Therefore, the risk potential would be too high, so that the traffic authorities cannot release this part of the footpath for cycling,” Wei explains.
In order to solve the problem and offer an alternative, various approaches are possible, but there is apparently still no concrete planning. According to Wei, it would be possible, among other things, for bicycles or protective strips to come into town on the lane of the Leistenstrasse. “But these plans are to be seen in a larger spatial context. We cannot offer an alternative until then,” emphasizes the city spokesman.
