The automobile is essential to life. It is used on different occasions, for example to go to work, to the place of vacation, or simply, to transport goods. Last year, automakers produced 92 million cars.
Among them, some are doing better than others like the Volkswagen Group, which is at the top of the ranking of manufacturers having generated the most revenue in 2019. Indeed, with no less than 290.2 billion dollars collected last year, the German group, owner of several brands such as Porsche, Audi and Lamborghini, surpasses all its competitors.
Visual Capitalist conducted a study in which it combs the revenues of the 19 largest automakers. To give us a better idea of the money brewed by manufacturers, he calculated the gross income earned per second.
In this game, the Volkswagen Group comes first with $ 9,202.88 won per second. It is followed by Toyota with $ 8,634.58 per second. In third place is Ford and its $ 4,946.76. Then there is Honda and GM with $ 4,537.67 and $ 4,351.76, respectively.
The French only arrived afterwards with PSA which generated $ 2,664.17 per second (11e ranking) and Renault with $ 1,979.84 (12e of the rank). Subaru and Tesla point at the end of the standings with $ 904.05 and $ 780.06 earned per second.
