How much are the € 2 worth with the carabinieri? The answer shocks everyone

Have you ever picked up two commemorative euro coins from the Gendarmerie and wondered how much they were worth? In this article, we’ll answer your questions. The two commemorative euro coins of the Gendarmerie are part of a series of two commemorative euro coins issued by the Italian Republic: the 2 euro denomination, in fact, is the minting of limited edition coins used throughout Europe to commemorate various events.

The coin in the original blister now sells for around 49 euros on a dedicated site, while in its very rare “test” version it can even reach 100 euros. In this latest edition, only 5,000 pieces were produced, representing a truly rare edition of the coin. On the same site, the currency in the FdC state is quoted around 4 euros.

The Arma dei Carabinieri is one of the most famous police forces in the world, born long before the unification of Italy, before going through various political / social changes, it has participated in many military operations: since 2000 the weapon has become the army, under the control of the Ministry of Defense, but no longer supported by the Army (previously it was defined as the first weapon of the Army), but found an autonomous status in the Italian Armed Forces. A decidedly important role in the history of our country, and in 2014 the Italian Mint paid tribute to the 200th anniversary of the weapon with a commemorative coin worth 2 euros. One side of this coin has all the typical characteristics of a 2 euro coin, such as the representation and the European denomination, while the other side is engraved with the representation of the sculpture “Patrol of the Carabinieri alla Tormenta” made by Antonio Berti in 1973 .

In Rome today, in the gardens of Sant’Andrea al Quirinale, except for the two-year period 1814 and 2014, the year the weapon was born and the year the coins were minted.

The LDS lettering is small in size, the initials of the designer, Luciana De Simoni. Like all two euros, the coin has stars around it, except “RI”, an acronym for the Italian Republic.

How much is it worth?

It is a very important “piece” in every enthusiast’s collection, in fact it is sold and purchased above all in online auctions: this also means that it is not a rare example, but rather developed in large numbers, which is why it is still easy to find. In fact, the coins in question were originally made up of 20,000 Brilliant Uncirculated, and nowadays they are relatively easy to find for sale, in perfect condition, at 5-6 euro, while for all “circulating” specimens, which therefore show signs of wear, the value is the nominal value of 2 euro.
