Sunday, four and a half months after the start of the vaccine campaign against Covid-19 in France, 20.3 million people (30.3% of the population) had received at least one dose of vaccine and 8.83 million (13.2% of the population) two doses.
However, these data do not tell us about the number of people “fully vaccinated”. Indeed, an individual with a complete vaccination schedule can fall into several categories. This is either – the most common case – someone who has received two doses of the vaccine, someone who has received a dose of Janssen (which requires only one injection), or a person who has received a dose after having already contracted the virus, or, finally, an immunocompromised person who will have to receive three injections.
According to Public Health France, on May 16, there were 9.5 million people “fully vaccinated” (14.2% of the population), or 670,000 more people than people vaccinated with two doses.
This figure of 9.5 million “fully vaccinated” people is not, in fact, completely correct. Because for the moment, the information system of Public Health France does not allow to register the third injections for the immunocompromised (150,000, at this stage, need them to complete their vaccination schedule). A problem that should be resolved in June. For now, they are therefore considered “fully vaccinated” from their second dose. Even if, adds the agency, “Many immunocompromised people have already received their third injection.”
Among the 670,000 people “completely vaccinated” without having received two doses, there are, in fine, 157,000 people immunized with a dose of Janssen, and therefore 513,000 vaccinated with a dose after having already contracted the virus.
