  • Actual working hours are reduced during the month of Ramadan for Muslims, so that they do not exceed (6) hours per day, or (36) hours per week.
  • A system shall be established for working hours and rest periods during work. The worker shall not work for more than 5 hours continuously without a period of rest or prayer and food of no less than 30 minutes at a time during working hours.
  • The worker shall not remain in the workplace for more than 12 hours per day.
  • The periods designated for rest, prayer, and food are not included within the actual working hours. The worker is not during the periods under the control of the employer, and the employer may not oblige the worker to remain in the workplace during them.

Leave system in Saudi labor law

It is worth noting that the Labor Law in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sets many controls and rules related to the leave system, which are as follows:

  • Paying vacation pay in advance.
  • The employer must notify the employee in advance of his leave.
  • The worker is entitled to 21 long days of vacation each year, which increases to 30 days if the worker works for 5 years.
  • Postponing leave for up to one year after employee consent.
  • If the employee is confined to an educational institution, he gets full leave and performs the same number of examinations as if he were at home.
  • If an employee’s wife becomes pregnant, he is given 3 days leave plus 5 days if his marriage or family members die.
  • If you want to work without paying, your employer can agree.
  • She is entitled to vacation time when she is sick, and this right must be fully respected.
  • If you do not take time off you are entitled to get paid for your time.
  • Paycheck takes about 60 days to process after it is received. After that, the employee does not have the 30 days of paid vacation time that was initially promised.
  • If the leave is intermittent or continuous, it must be during the same year.
