The study also suggests that seats in public places, such as parks, malls, restaurants, railways or airports waiting halls, could be covered with a cloth to reduce the risk of spreading the disease.
This comes after previous studies reported that 99.9% of the liquid content of a droplet of the virus on impermeable and porous surfaces evaporates within the first few minutes, and thus a microscopic residual thin liquid film remains on the exposed solid parts, where the virus can still survive.
