How hard or easy is it to be a writer? Different answers to this question are given in the book “Writing Laboratory” by 15 contemporary Latvian authors. The idea of ​​collecting the thoughts of creative minds about the writing experience belongs to the writer and editor of this publication Inga Žolude. These are philosophical reflections, practical advice and personal reflections of the authors.

One of the authors of the “Writing Laboratory” is Arno Jungze, who started writing books, guided by his subconscious: “I still don’t really understand what is the basis for the fact that we write. That’s why it’s very interesting that this book somehow tries to show it, what is this writing Can you find there [atbildi] or not, probably that there people will find interesting things for themselves and think about those writers that they are completely crazy people. Which is actually already the case.”

The publisher’s approach to writers: to tell honestly how the work comes about and what the writing process is like, what inspires the idea and what conditions are necessary for the presentation of thoughts.

“When that work comes to me and it messes with my head, then I live in two parallel worlds. In one I exist physically, the other is the world of the new book. It tends to be unpleasant, because in those moments you are not fit for a normal life,” he says Ms.

On one of the covers of the book, writer Sven Kuzmin’s statement is highlighted – there is no single correct explanation for how text becomes literature, literature becomes life, and life becomes text.

“At the moment when the book comes out and reaches readers in bookstores, I usually disappear for three or four days. I lock myself in my country house and don’t answer phone calls. I don’t know why,” Yundze admits candidly. “The text is ready, then you have that feeling when the computer is clearing its memory… Everything flies out of your head and remains such a funny and light feeling.”
