Houthi Rocket Attack on Ship in Red Sea Sparks Concerns: UKMTO Reports Vessel and Crew Safe

Jeddah: Houthi rocket attack on the ship again in the Red Sea. On Tuesday night, a rocket attack took place on the ship which was traveling through the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen. The attack took place about 110 kilometers from the Houthi-held coast of Hudaydah. But the British military’s UK Maritime Trade Operations Center, which oversees shipping in the Middle East, reported that the rocket exploded outside the ship. The UKMTO stated that the vessel and crew were safe and on their way to the next port of call.

A Greek-owned Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship was reportedly targeted. Another Panamanian-flagged chemical tanker was also in the vicinity at the time. The Houthi naval attack in the Red Sea began in November demanding an end to Israel’s attack on Gaza. Last week, a ship was severely damaged in the Strait of Aden and an American drone worth millions of dollars was shot down. The Houthis have also warned that they will continue to attack, including using submarine weapons, until Israel ends its attack on Gaza. The Houthis intensified their attacks in the Red Sea while the US-led air strikes against the Houthis continued.
