Houthi Leader Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi Declares Operations in Indian Ocean and Southern Israel

DUBAI (Reuters) – Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the leader of the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, said on Thursday the group had launched “operations” in the Indian Ocean and towards the end of southern Israel.

Abdul Malik Al Houthi’s statements indicate that the group did what they had previously threatened to do by expanding their operations to the Indian Ocean region and attacking southern Israel.

The Houthis launched several attacks towards the port of Eilat in what they described as a direct conflict with Israel.

Al-Houthi said in a televised speech that the group carried out 14 operations in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, and all the way to the Indian Ocean within two weeks.

The Houthis say that the targeting of ships, which began in the Red Sea region in November, is an act of solidarity with the Palestinians who are facing Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Houthi said in his speech, “There is no danger to the navigation of European countries that are not facing the enemy of Israel and can pass safely and safely. “

He noted that 98 ships have been targeted so far as part of efforts to prevent ships bound for Israel from sailing through the Red Sea.

The head of the group continued by saying that the attacks will continue until Israel stops its military operation against the Islamic Anti-Islamic Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, which began after the attack by the Palestinian armed group on southern Israel on October 7.

He said, “The solution in everyone’s interest is to stop the (Israeli) attack, end the siege in Gaza, and provide food and medicine.”
