Pforzheim. The fact that city treasurer Konrad Weber was able to report a tax improvement of around one million euros apparently spurred the city council on the first day of budget discussions. They want to accelerate the large-scale Inselcampus project and increase family-friendliness overall, as shown, for example, by increased funding for sports. There is another new approach to bathroom planning, which many will find pleasant.
In accordance with previous applications, including from the alliance Greens and the CDU, a planning rate of 500,000 euros for 2021 and one million euros for 2022 should be set in the budget, so that the projects on the island campus get going faster. The first projects are the gymnasium and cafeteria, which, according to First Mayor Dirk Büscher, are valued at ten million euros. The major upheaval on the Enz for this modern educational landscape is expected to cost a good 90 million euros. According to the general tenor, the planning for the extension to the Osterfeld School must go faster.

The announcement by Büscher and Mayor Peter Boch that they want to expand the planning of the new district swimming pool in Huchenfeld to include a children’s paddling pool was generally well received. The city administration submitted such a resolution on Tuesday. The consultation is due on December 15th in the municipal council. This increases the total costs for the bathroom from 13 million euros to 14 million euros.

Funding is expected, the local council will provide at least 80,000 euros. Because he is convinced that the new inner-city “Emma” to be built also needs such a children’s paddling pool, Boch wants to start a fundraising campaign for this in the coming year. The mayor emphasized that he was in good spirits to be able to raise a considerable part of the estimated additional costs of two million euros, especially since “the name Emma Jaeger is a very important one in the city”. There is obviously still a need for discussion about whether the bathroom should be built at the original location or at least on the island campus.

The main committee voted unanimously in favor of increasing sports funding by 50,000 euros. The SPD parliamentary group withdrew the cover proposal linked to their application – the abolition of the bread roll button for free short-term parking. The key should be retained – especially to support the starving retail trade. The Green List’s motion to provide 50,000 euros more annually for events typical for young people also seems to have a majority. The actual decisions, however, will all not be made until Thursday in the face-to-face meeting in the CCP, as the questions in the household consultation, which was held as a video conference, are formally merely a picture of the mood.
