hospitals under pressure in Deux-Sèvres

The health situation remains tense in Deux-Sèvres, especially in hospitals. More than 120 hospitalizations are linked to covid-19, of which eleven in intensive care. And it does not only affect the elderly. “Five of these patients are under 65 and three are under 60”, notes Laurent Flament, the director of the ARS in Deux-Sèvres.

The incidence rate is 235 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

A situation which involves reorganizations with deprogramming in surgery at the‘Niort hospital“starting next week”, specifies Laurent Flament. The least urgent operations, variable of adjustment also to the CHNDS where around 40 people are hospitalized in Faye-l’Abbesse. The northern Deux-Sèvres hospital has also had up to 90-100 cases among caregivers, a figure that fell to 54. Consultations are also still closed in Thouars and Parthenay.

And then we called on people who had just retired “, explains Bruno Bonnain, deputy director of the CHNDS.

Expected deliveries of Moderna and Astrazeneca vaccines

On the vaccination side, 3% of Deux-Sévriens were vaccinated with at least one injection. Same trend as the regional level (3.1%). “We think we can reopen slots in vaccination centers at the beginning of March”, says Laurent Flament.

Deliveries of two new vaccines are expected: Modern during February. AstraZeneca in the next few days. But this vaccine, which is not recommended for people over 65, will be reserved for healthcare professionals.
