Hospitality boss Oubaha furious about closing pubs and restaurants: ‘This is the death blow’ | Coronavirus

ARNHEM / NIJMEGEN – Catering boss Khalid Oubaha, with 21 catering companies in Arnhem, Nijmegen and Enschede, is furious. Due to the partial lockdown, he has to close all his business for four weeks. “You bet that we are not allowed to open before January.”

Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced on Tuesday evening that the catering industry must close for four weeks. It is a last resort measure to prevent the entire country from being locked.

“This is the result of seven months of government mismanagement. This cabinet is unable to guide us through this crisis, ” Oubaha said immediately after the press conference. The jobs of all its 500 employees are at risk, now that business has to be closed for the second time. “While the cause of the flare-up virus is not in the hospitality industry, all the figures show.”

Figures from the RIVM show that the catering industry is responsible for 1.8 percent of the infections. This compares with, for example, 9.3 percent in nursing homes and 59 percent in a home environment.

Oubaha fears that this second partial lockdown will kill many entrepreneurs. “Soon we will not be able to pay the salaries and masses of people will have to go to the UWV.”
