Skvernelis is strict against Šimonytė’s decision: the government simply went bankrupt

“I think the opportunity has been missed to renew the government and resolve the in-depth issues. Now they have been frozen or postponed – after all, those ministers who are unable to work will not start working. So the opportunity was not taken, “Elk said.

“It was clearly stated that (the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Communications – ELTA) take responsibility … But why did they just put it on the state enterprise -” Lithuanian Railways “. Apparently, there will soon be on the port managers as well. That’s not what I understand, “he said.

According to S. Skvernel, this is another example of the right people not keeping their promises and values declared before the elections.

“What was declared before and after the elections about high levels of political responsibility, standards, morals and everything else is not being followed. The government has simply gone bankrupt, “he said.

“Looking at what happened during those years, they lied. Lied that he has a new pandemic management strategy, lied that he has some mystical plan, lied that the tax system will be reformed and that a working group will be set up to complete and present the reform of the whole tax system in the autumn, lied that no new taxes will be introduced. Now it is still lying, “he said.

“As one of the country’s most famous professors once said, we need non-lying power. This has now happened to the best that could have happened to Lithuania, ”S. Skvernelis ironized.

Ironically, S. Skvernelis also assessed the remark that his current criticism of I. Šimonytė’s decision can be assessed as unfair, because he himself refused to dismiss the then Minister of Transport and Communications Jaroslav Narkevičius, who was involved in scandals a few years ago.

“The Narkevičius cutlet for 40 euros is a much bigger problem for the state than the issue of fertilizers with a loss of half a billion. There is nothing to compare, Narkevičius caused much more reparative damage to Lithuania and its economy, ”S. Skvernelis summed up ironically.

The prime minister said on Tuesday evening that the composition of the government would not change after the scandal over the transit of Belaruskali fertilizers. According to her, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis and the Minister of Transport Marius Skuodis will remain in their positions, and the Government will continue its work, because the Prime Minister emphasized that there is currently no real alternative majority in the Seimas that could take the lead and take the initiative.

The Belarusian fertilizer scandal demanded the chair of the head of the Lithuanian Railways

On Tuesday evening, the Board of Lietuvos Geležinkeliai announced that it had decided that the company’s director Mantas Bartuška would resign after the transition period.

According to the Chairman of the Board Kęstutis Šliužas, this joint decision of the Board and M. Bartuška was made “in order to de-escalate the situation and minimize the reputational risks associated with the company, for the benefit of all stakeholders and business continuity”.

ELTA reminds that the crisis in the government arose when the transit of the company’s products through Lithuania did not stop after the entry into force of the sanctions imposed by the United States of America last week on the Belarusian state-owned potassium fertilizer producer Belaruskalij.

According to M. Bartuška, the Belarusian company transferred an advance payment for the transit of fertilizers to the Lithuanian Railways in November, December and a half in January.
