Hospital staff member in Lyon under suspicion for sharing photos of deceased patients on Snapchat

Working at the funeral service of the Croix-Rousse hospital in Lyon, the respondent allegedly photographed and filmed several corpses, then shared the photos and videos on Snapchat.

She would have gone so far as to publish a photo of a dead baby on social networks. An employee of the funeral service of the Croix-Rousse hospital, in Lyon (Rhône), is currently the subject of an investigation for “invasion of privacy by capturing, recording or transmitting images” following a complaint filed by the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL), on which this employee depends.

As explained France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, the organization reacted to the TikTok publication of an influencer presenting himself as a “whistleblower”. In a short video, he denounced the actions of the employee in question, who allegedly took pictures and filmed corpses at her workplace, then shared the photos on the Snapchat social network. According to the public service media, the respondent would have disseminated in this way “the photo of a deceased infant, as well as (as) videos of corpses accompanied by mocking comments”.

The respondent and his former companion in police custody

After learning of these particularly serious facts, the HCLs were quick to react. “These actions, intolerable and unworthy, have been the subject of an administrative investigation since Monday, thus indicates the organization, quoted by France 3. The agent in question was immediately suspended from his duties and is the subject of disciplinary proceedings. A complaint has also been filed.”

Depending on the progress of the criminal investigation opened by the Lyon prosecutor’s office, the woman, whose age has not been specified, could therefore be the subject of legal proceedings. According Progressthe respondent was in any case arrested and placed in police custody this Wednesday, March 15, in the company of another person, who would be his former companion.
