Over the past seven days, an average of 20.3 corona patients per day have been admitted to Belgian hospitals, 14 percent more than in the previous week. This is evident from data from health institute Sciensano on Friday morning.

A total of 253 Covid-19 patients are currently in hospitals. That figure has remained stable. Of these, 86 are in intensive care units (-10 percent).
In terms of infections, an average of 1,175 confirmed cases were added daily in the week from 6 to 12 July. This is an increase of 86 percent compared to the previous seven days. Some 61,700 tests were performed during that period (-5 percent), the positivity ratio rose to 2 percent.
The incidence – which represents the number of confirmed infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past fourteen days – is now 110.2, an increase of no less than 140 percent. The reproduction number – the extent to which sick people infect others – is currently 1.17. If that value is above 1, the epidemic increases in strength.
The number of new deaths from Covid-19 continues to fall sharply. In the week of July 6-12, there were an average of 1.7 deaths daily, a 48 percent drop.
Meanwhile, 7,675,431 compatriots have received at least one dose of a corona vaccine. That is 66.6 percent of the total population, 81.8 percent of adults. Of these, 5,181,050 people have already been fully vaccinated: 45 percent of the entire population, 56.1 percent of adults.
