Horacio Pagani is clear about electric cars. He doesn’t want to make them, they lack emotion

For four years, the Italian Pagani studied and determined what impact the transition to electricity would have on their car company and creations. After a thorough investigation by the management, a clear decision was finally made. Electric cars have not yet received the green light, and the automaker will continue to work on super sports with internal combustion and V12 engines.

Company boss Horacio Pagani said electric cars are too heavy, lack emotion, and most of the energy they use doesn’t come from renewable sources anyway. That is also why, according to him, their production lacks significance. In addition, according to Pagani, the climate impact of supercars is so small that it is unnecessary to deal with it.

“In four years, we have not found any interest in the electric supercar market. Currently, 90% of energy is produced without renewable sources. It’s silly to think that just a few supercars with gasoline engines can have a negative effect on the climate. Energy is produced in the wrong way anyway,” said Pagani.

Studies by the Italian automaker also showed that if they wanted to maintain similar performance to that of an internal combustion vehicle, the electric kit would have to weigh 600 kilograms, which is more than half the current weight of the Huayra R model (1070 Kg). Horacio stated that the dream would be an electric car weighing around 1,300 kilograms, which is currently not possible.

“I own a Tesla to understand electric cars, but I don’t think it’s necessary for such cars to have such unnecessarily high performance. The challenge for me would be to make an electric car with emotions like a regular car. We can easily deliver the power of the electric car now, but everything else will be missing,” added the company’s director.

So Pagani will continue to rely on internal combustion engines, specifically on the giant V12 from the German automaker Mercedes-Benz. However, he strongly believes in electric cars, and therefore it is not clear how long he will continue to produce similar combustion engines.

“That’s why we only have to talk to those who decide to listen and understand,” added Horacio. And he added that Pagani will continue to produce dreams on wheels and cars that, in addition to performance, do not lack style and a certain reference to current fashion.
