Honda Elevate: New SUV model set to launch this year

Jakarta

Honda India announced a new name for its latest SUV model. Reportedly, Honda’s new SUV called Elevate will launch in the middle of this year.

The Honda Elevate will be an urban SUV. However, it will not be limited to the local market, as Honda intends to export it to various countries around the world.

However, Honda has yet to release any official details. The teaser image published on his social media only shows a small part of the back door with the words “Elevate”. The choice of name is somewhat unusual when viewed from the fact that most of the Honda-branded SUVs adopt a three-letter format (WR-V, HR-V, ZR-V and CR-V).

This SUV reportedly has a length of between 4.2 meters to 4.3 meters. Honda Elevate will be longer than the WR-V that has been launched in Indonesia and slightly shorter than the HR-V.

Reportedly, the new SUV will adopt the same mechanical kitchen as the Honda City. This means it can be powered by a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that develops 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. Power will be channeled to the front axle via a six-speed manual transmission or CVT transmission. In the future, Honda may add a self-charging hybrid variant to better compete with the electrification of rival brands.

Honda Elevate will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder. Local media in India report that the official debut of this urban SUV is scheduled for June 6, with first deliveries expected in August.
