In Germany, the homes of five terror suspects were searched during a major police operation. They are said to have prepared a terrorist attack, spurred by propaganda from the terrorist group Islamic State.
There was no concrete plan yet, a spokesperson for the German Public Prosecution Service told the public broadcaster WDR. That is why the suspects have not been arrested. They would have practiced in a forest with axes and knives.
All the suspects live in Düren, a town just east of Aachen. They are between 16 and 22 years old. Four suspects have German nationality, two of whom also have Russian nationality. The fifth suspect is Turkish.
350 officers were deployed in the police operation. Police will not release any further details about the suspicion in connection with the investigation.
