Homes and schools in Cidaun-Cianjur were damaged by the Garut earthquake

A number of buildings in the Cidaun district, Regency CianjurWest Java, was damaged by the tremors earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 hitting Garut Regency on Saturday (3/12).

Cianjur Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is still collecting data. Numerous buildings, from residents’ homes, schools and village offices in Cidaun district were damaged.

BPBD Cianjur secretary Rudi Wibowo said residents in the southern region of Cianjur felt the vibrations from the earthquake were quite strong. They run out of the house.

“We sent officers to the scene, but reports from the Tangguh Disaster Volunteers, the impact of the Garut earthquake damaged houses, schools and offices in the village, most of which suffered cracks and broken glass,” Rudi said quoted from Antara.

The local BPBD noted that there were no fatalities in the crash. Some residents remained outside their homes until Saturday evening. They fear the aftershocks will repeat.

Also, his party is still collecting data at the Cianjur earthquake spot, whether it was hit again or not.

“We are still collecting data, including in the entire Cianjur area because the earthquake that occurred on Saturday night was felt quite severely by the residents of Cianjur. We hope it will not be as severe as in Cianjur city and Cugenang,” he said Rudi.

BPBD has appealed to residents living on the south coast directly adjacent to Garut Regency, such as Cidaun and Sindangbarang, to remain vigilant and evacuate immediately or leave their homes when the earthquake shakes again to avoid being crushed by the buildings.

“We are still alerting more than 500 volunteers in the southern region to continue monitoring, supervising and immediately reporting if they see signs of an impending disaster, including an earthquake,” Rudi said.
