HomeComputerMuseum of tweaker asks for support – Computer – .Geeks

The HomeComputerMuseum of tweaker WHiZZi has started a concept where companies and individuals can join as Friends of the HomeComputerMuseum. The museum is doing this because it is in heavy weather due to the fourth corona wave.

“We can no longer deny it, the HomeComputerMuseum is having a very difficult time,” the museum reports in a newsletter. Until November everything seemed to be getting back on track; trade fairs were held again, schools dared to visit again and visitor numbers grew. Even the rent increase by October was feasible.

However, organized events and tours were canceled due to the fourth corona wave. The Tweakers Abodag, which was to take place in the HomeComputerMuseum this year, was postponed as a result. The lack of events and a number of unexpected large costs currently mean that salaries have not been paid. The museum is collecting money ‘from everywhere’ to be able to pay the basic costs.

Friends of the HomeComputerMuseum

That is why the museum started with the Friends of the HomeComputerMuseum for companies concept. For 250 euros per year, companies can become a friend to support the museum. They are kept informed of developments, are allowed to visit the museum and special days with a personal tour can be organized. Company logos are also mentioned in the museum and on the museum’s website.

Private persons can also become a Friend of the Museum or support the HomeComputerMuseum in another way. For instance via Patreon, through the take an annual pass, the buy a t-shirt or the adopting a computer.

The HomeComputerMuseum is much more than just a museum. It is a foundation that also offers people with a distance to the labor market a place for daytime activities or reintegration processes. For example, more than 40 people now work in the museum. Founder Bart van den Akker recently discussed this extensively in an interview.
