Holland Norway Lines, which offers ferry crossings to Norway, has applied for a deferment of payment. The ship is not sailing for the time being and ticket sales are also at a standstill.

Holland Norway Lines says that the financial problems arose after the company had to leave Eemshaven at the beginning of this year. The ferry MS Romantika has temporarily moved to Cuxhaven in Germany. The ship has been sailing from Emden to Kristiansand in Norway since June.

These relocations were associated with high costs. In addition, cancellations followed and the new departure port will affect future bookings, the company said. Holland Norway Lines says it needs more time to absorb the losses from early 2023.

Travelers who already have a ticket for the MS Romantika are out of luck. The ferry will remain in Emden for the time being. The company advises customers to look around for hotels, flights and other ferry services.

Whether the customers will get their money back is still unknown. The costs for tickets at Holland Norway Lines can easily run into the hundreds of euros.
