Hoekstra: more sanctions against Belarus in preparation | Inland

Hoekstra writes that the Dutch cabinet has established that the Russian armed forces also operate from Belarus. “The Russian armed forces are making full use of military facilities in Belarus, including when ground troops are moving towards Kiev. Such support for the unlawful use of force and aggression is contrary to international law. In the view of the cabinet, the Lukashenko regime is therefore responsible for its role in the bloodshed,” said the foreign minister.

Hoekstra summoned the ambassador of Belarus on Friday “whereby this message was clearly conveyed. Belarus has been called upon to stop this act of aggression by blocking all Russian troop movements from its territory to Ukraine. It has also been communicated that the EU will prepare new sanctions against Belarus.”

Lukashenko

Further sanctions have already been imposed against Belarus and indirectly against President Lukashenko in 2021. These affected the tobacco and oil industries, for example, and imposed restrictions on the export of fertilizer raw materials.
