Hockenheim. (pol / mare) A serious accident occurred on the B39 federal highway on Saturday evening in which a car rolled over several times. The police report.
According to previous investigations, a 31-year-old man and his female passenger drove in his VW Polo on the B39 in the direction of Schwetzingen in the left lane. Another woman driving a Range Rover and two other occupants approached the Polo from behind and hit the vehicle at high speed.
As a result of the impact, the Polo skidded, stood sideways, rolled over several times and ultimately remained on the central guardrail. Both inmates were seriously but not life-threateningly injured and were taken to a Heidelberg clinic for further treatment. The occupants of the Range Rover were uninjured.
In the case of the person who caused the accident, the investigation revealed evidence of drink-driving. A breath alcohol test carried out voluntarily showed a value above 1.8 per thousand. The 35-year-old driver is now threatened with proceedings due to a traffic hazard. Since the scene of the accident stretched over 150 meters, the B39 in the direction of Schwetzingen had to be closed for around four hours to record the accident and rescue the vehicles.
The Heidelberg Transport Service took over the investigation into the course of the accident. The property damage amounts to a good 70,000 euros.
