Hitman 3 developers reveal new details

Hitman 3 is the third and final chapter in the World of Assassination trilogy, with IO Interactive being the only developer and publisher. Earlier this month, the PlayStation 5 game reveal event released a trailer for the next game. Aside from confirming some returning characters, including Agent 47 and the new locations, the trailer didn’t reveal much.

In a recent episode of IOI Monthly, broadcast live on Twitch, community developer Clemens Koch and community manager Travis Barbour sat down to talk about Hitman 3. They told us what IO Interactive has already revealed and also shared new details about the game.

Basics of Hitman 3 gameplay

The final episode will take players to exotic sandbox locations on an adventure around the world, providing a dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy. Hitman 3 will have six locations, and players can access them all at launch. So far, the developer has announced only one location, which is also the starting location for the game.

The place is Dubai, where players can overcome the tallest skyscraper in the world while playing as Agent 47, according to community officials. Those who purchased Hitman 2 in 2016 and Hitman 2 in 2018 can import all of the previous locations into Hitman 3. In addition, owners of Hitman 2 will have the option to postpone progress with the unlocked items.

Besides access to the sandbox locations, the developers also insisted on freedom of choice. Players can manipulate levels by choosing a disguise, using items they have found as weapons, or to cause distractions, etc. There are puzzles to understand, places to explore, and everything is wrapped up in a visually stunning experience.

Some other details and the distribution

We already know that Agent 47 returns as ruthless as he is. This time, he will embark on a journey while undertaking the most important contracts of his entire career. Its ultimate goal is to eliminate Providence’s partners. Community leaders have said that Hitman 3’s tone is “much more mature, much more serious and darker”. The key black-themed art, trailer and slogan “Death Awaits” present a darker plot for the final chapter.

Despite all of this, the game will retain the essentials of humor, like previous Hitman titles. The developers have established a close link between the story, the cutscenes and the sandbox gameplay. IO Interactive also unveiled the main cast for Hitman 3 during the monthly episode. David Bateson is the voice actor for Agent 47, Jane Perry for Diana Burnwood, John Hopkins for Lucas Gray, Philip Rosch for The Constant and Isaura Barbe-Brown voices Olivia Hall.

Besides the main cast, the last chapter of the trilogy will also include several targets, NPCs and other characters. Although the studio hasn’t released any gameplay yet, fans can expect to see more cutscenes, as well as gameplay, in the months to come. Hitman 3 should be released in January 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. Those interested can consult the full episode of the monthly IOI by clicking here.
