Arthur Edwards, who has photographed the British royal family for a number of years, was in Sandringham in 2005. The prince had invited a number of friends – including Kate.

Little did he know that one day she would become the prince’s wife.

– I had no idea who she was, he admits today, according to People.

Must last forever

The Duchess and Prince William met for the first time when they studied at St. Andrews University in Scotland in 2001. See and Hear royal house expert, Caroline Vagle, says that Kate was sporty, good at school and a little shy.

– The Duchess grew up in an ordinary family. The parents eventually earned their living, and were able to send their children to the best schools and universities. Kate was a slightly shy girl, good at school and sporty. She was and still is humble and loyal, and in that sense perfect for the royal family she married into.

Kate was called the prettiest girl at the university, so the prince was hardly the only one who had a good eye for the dutiful beauty. But he pulled the longest straw, and her life was changed forever, Vagle continues.

– Today the shyness is gone, and she is very good at meeting people. I remember I was especially impressed with her when the couple visited Norway, and she almost stopped by every single one who had turned up to catch a glimpse of them.

Edwards also remembers the time before Kate and William were engaged, and tells that shortly after the duke couple ended it in 2007, it was his wife Ann who observed Kate at a Princess Diana tribute at Wembley Stadium.

At that time, the wife felt oblivious that the couple had found each other again. It turned out she was right.

Just before the couple announced that they were engaged in 2010, Edwards was officially introduced to what was to become the prince’s wife. At the time, he allegedly asked Prince William about the breach.

– Well, Arthur, I had to be sure that this was the right woman for me, because I want this marriage to last forever, the prince should have answered, according to Edwards.
