New York City was placed in a state of emergency after very violent floods that have already killed seven people, Thursday, September 2. The images of these torrential rains are very impressive: the city is under water.

The city declared a state of emergency for flooding for the first time. In a few hours, Wednesday, September 1 in the evening, the streets of New York turned into a torrent. Hurricane Ida crossed the United States, and ended its destructive course in the great megalopolis in the east of the country. Passengers in cars and buses remained trapped. Police officers patrolled to rescue them. At least seven people died during the night.

This meteorological event is historic, according to the mayor of the city. Even the metro did not withstand the torrential rains, while some hoped to take refuge there. The US Open tennis tournament had to be put on hold. The courts are covered, but the rooftops were overflowing. Ida had arrived in the state of New Jersey on Wednesday morning, creating an impressive tornado. There too, the damage is numerous: “We have too many neighborhoods where the floods are so terrible that cars are blocked, people have drowned, we are in the process of finding the bodies”, reports Hector Lora, the mayor of Paissac (New Jersey).
