Hispano Suiza returns to the United States with Carmen Boulogne

The collector Michael Fux has become the first American owner of the new Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne, an electric hypercar of Spanish origin developed by the specialists at QEV Technologies. The delivery of the vehicle took place during the 27th edition of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

Hispano Suiza was an automobile manufacturer whose activity was concentrated between 1904 and 1946. During its peak years, the legendary Spanish house was considered internationally as Rolls-Royce’s main competition. The new Hispano Suiza Cars, founded by Grup Perelada (a company controlled by the descendants of Daniel Mateu, creator of the original firm), seeks to pay homage to his illustrious legacy with the Carmen, a model inspired by the classic H6-C Dubonnet Xenia from 1938.

The company plans to manufacture only fourteen units of the Carmen, to which another five of the radical Boulogne version should be added, which will result in a very limited production of nineteen copies. The name Boulogne is a tribute to the brand’s competition models in the 1920s, specifically the H6 Coupe Boulognewhich owed their name to the three consecutive victories achieved in the endurance races of the French city of Boulogne.

In front of the Carmen, the Carmen Boulogne adds 95 horsepower (70 kW), peaking at 1,114 hp (820 kW). Thanks to this increase in power, its 0 to 100 km/h goes from 3 to less than 2.6 seconds. The top speed for its part stands at 290 km / h, compared to 250 km / h electronically limited variant “standard”.

One of the great protagonists of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has been the Hispano Suiza Carmen

The Carmen Boulogne continues to be a rear-wheel drive vehicle, as it is equipped with two 410 kW electric motors on the rear axle associated with a torque vectoring system. This drive assembly offers a torque of 1,600 Nm. With a weight of 1,630 kg, the Carmen Boulogne is 60 kg lighter than the Carmensomething due mainly to the extensive use of carbon fiber.

The Carmen Boulogne by Michael Fux has been customized by the Hispano Suiza technical office in Barcelona. Thus, the tone chosen for its bodywork is the striking «Ocean Song Rose», created exclusively for the client. The passenger compartment is entirely covered in high-quality leather in the color “Birkigt White”

Miguel Suqué Mateu, president of Hispano Suizahas declared: “We are very proud to deliver this unique version of the Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne to our first client in the United States, and doing so on the occasion of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance allows us to show the world, and especially the American market, what Hispano Suiza can achieve”.
