Regardless of the weather or conditions, a group of Hispanics gather on the weekends, with one purpose: to help those most in need, especially this New Year’s season, which comes with an expensive family basket and thousands of new migrants looking for a future in this country.

Food, winter clothing and basic necessities are among the most popular items. In a social center in New York, a group of young people, many of them Latinos, collect these objects to donate them to those who have little.

Despite the goodwill of these brigades of hope, they are giving out fewer donations this time around, which they say has declined in part due to higher prices overall. Ángela González, Voice of America, New York.
