Jakarta

Connection Saudi Arabia and Lebanon heats up. Saudi Arabia withdrew its ambassador from Lebanon and gave the Lebanese ambassador 48 hours to leave the kingdom.

This comes following “insult” remarks made by a Lebanese minister about Mr the Yemeni war. The minister reacted.

Minister of Information Lebanon, George Kordahi defends his criticism of the Saudi-led military coalition fighting the group Houthi rebels from Yaman.

As reported by the news agency AFP, Saturday (10/30/2021), Kordahi said in a television interview that the rebels Houthi the Iran-backed “defense itself … against external aggression”, adding that “houses, villages, cemeteries and weddings were bombed” by the coalition.

The interview was recorded last August, but aired on Monday (25/10). In the interview, he also called the seven-year war in Yemen “in vain” and said it was “time to end”.

On Tuesday (26/10), the Lebanese government said that Kordahi’s statement was “rejected and does not reflect the government’s position”. It said that the interview took place before Kordahi was elected minister in September.

Kordahi, a well-known television presenter, told local reporters that the interview took place on August 5 and was his “personal opinion”.
