A passion that leads to the unthinkable

Remember, the 1is January 2018, the young woman and her darling Christophe were assaulted by a fan. Armed with a knife, it was in the middle of the street that he injured the boyfriend of Miss France 2013 in the hand.

Obsessed by Marine Lorphelin since his victory in the Miss France election, the aggressor had already declared his love for the one he had been able to meet on several occasions. Flowers placed on the windshield of his car, box of chocolates offered during a signing session… he did everything to be noticed by the young woman.

A typical case of erotomania, where one has the conviction that a person is in love with oneself.

Said psychiatrist Jean Canterino.

It was after following Marine Lorphelin from her medical school in Lyon to her home, that he ended up committing this aggression when he saw her accompanied by her darling.

Considered irresponsible

The verdict is now in: no conviction for the aggressor who was declared criminally irresponsible by the Lyon public prosecutor’s office on Friday January 29, 2021. The world reports that the young man, suffering from schizophrenia, said in particular:

I do not have the exact memory of what happened, I was no longer myself. I no longer have any fixation.

Following the assault in 2018, he is undergoing treatment which seems to have put an end to his delusions. The newspaper said, however:

The Lyon Public Prosecutor’s Office requested the extension of security measures for a period of twenty years (…) The Advocate General requested that the care program of the alleged perpetrator be continued. He also called for a ban on contact with the two victims, as well as a ban on carrying a weapon, to minimize the risk of recidivism, in the very particular context of criminal irresponsibility.

The decision on these requests will be taken on February 12th.
