08 JULY 2023 | 10:10 | ANNA-LENA PETTERSON

Many strong names had lined up for the start of the team SC final and they also managed to give the audience several fine results while collecting points for their club teams. Among other things, Fanny Roos supported the new year’s best with 19.20.

Saturday’s team SC final began with one of the branches that was one of the highlights in advance, the pole vault with Upsala IF’s Armand Duplantis in the lead. The victory felt pretty much a given, Mondo entered in 5.26 and finally won in 5.71, a new team SC record and arena record for Sollentunavallen, but it was a jumper to over five meters. When the bar was set at 5.06, there were three men left in the competition, William Asker from Ögryte IS, Simon Thor from Hässelby and Armand Duplantis who had not yet entered the competition. Simon Thor tore through the height and stayed in third place in 4.86 and William Asker came second in 5.26.

Favorite wins in hammer and short hurdles

At the same time as the pole vault, the shot put competition was also decided where Hässelby SK’s Ragnar Carlsson punctured the competition already in the first round and then increased even more in the second with a throw that measured 74.16, a new team SC record. It was also the winning result. In second place came Spårvägen’s Ivar Moisander who threw 63.51 and in third place Karl Ludvik from Tureberg with a throw of 59.90.

The first event for the women was the 100 meter hurdles where the early favorite Johanna Carlsson from Malmö AI took home the victory in 14.26 and important points for MAI. Second was Maria Södergren from Täby IS and third was Julia Håkansson from Hässelby.

When it was time for the men’s short hurdles, it was once again the highest score for Malmö AI when the favorite Max Hrelja ran away from the rest of the boys already at the second hurdle and ran to the finish line in 13.97, half a second ahead of second-placed Sidrak Afework from Spårvägen and third-placed Elias Martinsson from Mölndals AIK.

New year’s best for Fanny Roos

In the women’s shot put competition, Fanny Roos had a good day and won with a shot of 19.20, only three decimetres from the Swedish record, a new year’s best for Fanny and a new team SM record. She had a very good series with several strokes over 18.60 which gave the highest score to Malmö AI.

– It felt very good. It feels like it’s been going on for the last few races and now it was nice to make a longer push at 19.20 and then get some more in around 18.70, so I’m happy with the race, Fanny said after the race.

The runner-up, Spårvägen’s Sara Lennman clocked 17.29 and in third place came Frida Åkerström from Hässelby in 15.17.

The first full points for Örgryte IS came in the women’s 400 meters where Lisa Lilja took command right from the start and held the lead all the way until she could comfortably finish in 53.18, a new team SC record. Täby IS Linnéa Frobe finished second and Upsala IF came third through Klara Helander.

In the men’s 400 meters it was a victory for Tureberg’s Emil Johansson who ran to the finish in 46.87, two tenths off his newly set personal record. Behind him came Marcus Tornée from Örgryte in 47.33 and David Thid from Spårvägen in 48.54.
