Highest number of infections in one and a half months Inland

This is evident from the corona dashboard of the national government. A further 137 infections were reported a day earlier.

In Rotterdam and the surrounding area, the number of corona infections is erratic, with a new increase to 64 cases on Sunday. On Saturday, 29 more people were tested positive in the Rijnmond area, which was a decrease compared to Friday (58 infections), according to the corona dashboard of the Central Government. Last Thursday there were 48 in the Rotterdam region and 35 on Wednesday.

Converted to the number of inhabitants, 4.8 people per 100,000 inhabitants tested positive in Rotterdam-Rijnmond on Saturday. That region is the largest source of infection, according to regional comparisons.

In Hollands Midden, in which Hillegom is located where a local outbreak last week, 14 new infections were detected. Converted to the number of inhabitants, 1.7 people per 100,000 were tested positive in Hollands Midden. On Saturday, this was 0.9 people out of 100,000.

The number of people tested positive (29) has risen slightly in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. 2.7 out of 100 people here have tested positive. On Saturday, this was still 2.1 people.

Hospital admissions

Nationally, the number of infections has increased since July 6, but this has not yet led to more hospital admissions.

“The number of Covid patients in Dutch hospitals is currently lower than at any time in recent months.” That says chairman Ernst Kuipers of the National Network Acute Care. If the number of new infections does not increase further, the number of hospital admissions will remain limited, according to Kuipers.

The hospital’s intensive care departments are home to 16 corona patients, 2 less than on Saturdays, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

The ICs now contain 568 other patients, 28 less than on Saturday. The number of hospital admissions related to Covid-19 outside the IC decreased by 24 on Sunday to 67, the center said on Sunday.

The increase in the number of corona infections may mean that the number of hospital admissions and the number of deaths will also increase over time.
