Antonio “Potro” Álvarez, former player, singer and politician, who is in charge of the Field Hospital deployed in the Poliedro de Caracas, He was admitted on the night of Wednesday, August 19, at the El Ávila Clinic for suspected coronavirus.
A clinic worker confirmed to The National that Álvarez was admitted to that health center with symptoms of covid-19.
The Colt arrived at the clinic at night, guarded by a large number of security agency officials of the State.
The source of the El Ávila clinic, who reserved his name for security reasons, pointed out that, after being evaluated, he was admitted and transferred to the hospitalization area, where he was assigned a room.
Security measures within the clinic are kept very strict and only authorized personnel could access the sector where Álvarez was located.
In the afternoon he confirmed that he was infected and indicated that he was in Fort Tiuna.

Nicolás Maduro announced on July 31 that Antonio “Potro” Álvarez would be in charge of the Field Hospital installed in the Poliedro de Caracas, where asymptomatic covid-19 patients are received.

The announcement generated harsh criticism from users on Twitter and sectors of the Venezuelan opposition expressed their rejection.
Álvarez assured on August 5 in an interview for Globovisión that the idea of using the Polyhedron as a hospital was his. He acknowledged that, although he is not a doctor, he has the ability to manage spaces to serve the public.
