Hexvessel: The World’s Most Popular Psychedelic Forest Folk Rock Band Performing in Tampere

This Friday, December 15, the post-folk rockers “Hexvessel” will perform at Vagonu Zále – a band formed ten years ago in the Finnish city of Tampere.

The year 2009 is considered to be the beginning of “Hexvessel” – the world’s most popular so-called “psychedelic forest folk” music group.

“Ritual folk music, black metal, psychedelic rock, doom, gothic and the presence of nature permeates it all,” is how this Finnish group is announced, mentioning even such different world-class teams as “Pink Floyd” and “Hawkwind” in genre references. By the way, the influence of “Hawkwind” is really felt – just like “The Doors” and a number of other rock groups of the 70s, but at the same time, connoisseurs of heavy music also see similarities in them with such flashes as “Ulver” and “Solstafir”.

For the first time, the wider world learned about “Hexvessel” in 2011, when their debut album “Dawnbearer” was released under the auspices of the Finnish music label “Svart Records”, which resonated positively in the music media and… in “The Guardian” article about occult rock music. A year later, the second album “No Holier Temple” increased the group’s recognition, which also brought a heap of music awards and/or nominations to “Hexvessel” in their native land. It should also be noted the EP “Iron Marsh”, released in 2013, which was awarded as “Best Underground Act” by the prestigious “Metal Hammer” magazine.

Currently, the shamanic Finnish group has six full-length studio albums, the last of which was released in April – it is called “Polar Veil”. It should be noted that the concert will be introduced by the domestic contemporary rock band “Elkupe”.
