Heru Budi on lifting the Ahok-era government eviction regulation: it takes time

Jakarta

Interim Governor (Pj). DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono admitted that he needs time to think about Governor’s (Pergub) Regulation No. 207 of 2016 issued by Governor Basuki Thahaja Purnama aka Ahok. As is well known, the Governor’s Regulations govern the issue of evictions.

“It takes time which ones need to be strengthened in the existing regulations in this Pergub,” Heru Budi told the city hall. DKI Jakarta, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (8/11/2022). Heru Budi was asked about the continuation of the process of revoking the governor’s eviction regulations for Ahok.

Heru said the Governor’s assessment of the evictions was still ongoing. In principle, the decisions made must be the best for all parties.

“I’m still thinking about what’s best for everyone,” he replied.

As is known, the Governor’s Regulation 207 of 2016 relating to the control of land use / control without authorized permits or the era of government eviction Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) was returned by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Kemendagri) to the government provincial of the DKI. The Interior Ministry has asked DKI to first issue a new Pergub so that there is no legal vacuum.

The request for the lifting of the Ahok-era government eviction regulation was previously filed by Anies Baswedan during her tenure as governor of the DKI. Last August, Anies said the provincial government was preparing a governor’s regulation to reverse the revocation of the old governor’s regulation.

However, they are awaiting the approval of the Ministry of the Interior. Only then was the governorate number issued.

“Now that we are doing a new regulation, there has to be a harmonization agreement with the Ministry of the Interior. So the revocation of the governor’s regulation has been made, it is in progress. So we have prepared the revocation of the governor’s regulation, we are being harmonized with the Ministry of the Interior.
