With the advent of new digital terrestrial, televisions that are unable to read the new HD format can no longer broadcast certain Rai and Mediaset channels. The best solution is to buy a new TV, also taking advantage of various bonuses, but at the same time there is a rather simple way to avoid changing a TV that, although old, is still fully functional.
In fact, it is enough to have a decoder, the purchase of which requires about thirty euros, to keep spending to a minimum, avoid changing TVs and continue watching all channels: just choose a decoder enabled to receive the channels of the new digital terrestrial. Among other things, this is only the first phase of a transition that will only end in 2023: in the meantime, some channels are now broadcast exclusively in mpeg4, a video format that only the most recent televisions are able to support.
For this reason, the ministerial directives offered broadcasters the right to choose whether and for which channels to start broadcasting in mpeg4 starting from this date. The transition from the standard format to the HD one is therefore not painless from an economic point of view: you can choose to buy a new TV, taking advantage of the bonuses, or save money with a decoder.
