Leipzig Christmas market has now been canceled despite initial acceptance

At first it was only said that the Leipzig Christmas market should be much smaller this year and that mulled wine and other gastronomic sales offers should be dispensed with.
Now the city of Leipzig has decided to completely cancel the Christmas market. The reason for this is the new Corona Protection Ordinance for the Free State of Saxony that came into force on Monday (November 2nd, 2020). This prohibits the implementation. “Until the end we hoped to have at least one Christmas market on a small scale in the city center,” said the mayor of Leipzig, Burkhard Jung. However, you have to face reality. “Health comes first,” says Jung to the press.
