help, what to do? What the Gassmann- Corriere.it case teaches

The question is of those who can divide a family or play two friends against each other: if at eleven in the evening, in the year II AD (after coronavirus), one realizes that a group of neighbors is doing a party in the courtyard of the condominium – perhaps without the pale blue shadow of a mask -, what do you do? We close the windows and put on headphones or report the facts to the police, given that the rules on curfews and gatherings are among the clearest ones enacted so far (no parties and at 10 pm everyone at home).

The question is very insidious and since it was to make it to his 295 thousand and broken followers on Twitter Alessandro Gassmann, he is still talking about it today, almost five days after that tweet. The actor and director wrote: «… Do you know those condominium things when you unequivocally hear the din of a party with dozens of guys in your neighbor’s house? You have two options: call the police and ruin your relations with the neighbor, ignore and endure, get off and play ».

Enrico Ruggeri

“Informer” was one of the kinder epithets (“We also lacked the VIP informers,” wrote Nicola Porro), because there were also those who called into question the surveillance services of the past. And this “someone” is not @Pippo76, but his name is Enrico Ruggeri, who commented, referring to Gassmann: “Great actor and director … with a bit of nostalgia for the old days of East Germany …”. There were also those who praised his civic sense (“We are in a country where success is envied and cunning is admired. Devastating”), but mostly the actor was buried by insults and threats. Also accompanied by twists and turns of logic, as he wrote to him: “Be cool because as a neighbor you will have someone like you, I would like to see you with the one who has nothing to lose, you would stay quiet and good”.

Gassmann replied point by point to many, even admitting that sometimes he reproaches those in the supermarket who do not wear a mask (“Yes, it happens to me”). But then the tone of certain responses took on the slimy consistency of warnings and then he wrote: “Saying what you think and asking for respect for the rules, after almost a year and a half of pandemic, comes from a substantial part lived with reactions of violence, insults and threats. Thanks to those who, even if they disagree, want to discuss ».

With these words the actor went to the heart of the problem. For more than a year, political communication has insisted not only on respect for the rules, but also on the sense of responsibility of citizens. In short, on a commitment that goes beyond the walls of the house. And then we ask ourselves: what it means to be responsible in extraordinary times? Some followers have underlined this (such as those who commented: “He chose the best possibility. If after a year and two months of pandemic we are at this point of no return, it is also because of people who pretended nothing happened”).

Most, however, poured the unspeakable on him. So much so that the actor told theAdnKronos: «I’m sorry for the controversy and also for the insults and threats received. Nearly a year and a half of the pandemic has exacerbated spirits leading to widespread anger. I am especially sorry for my wife, who is scared, and instead I thank those who are sending me beautiful messages ».
