Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie region, was in Cahors Friday March 5, 2021 in order to make a inventory of actions in the Occitanie Region in the Lot department.
The Lot economy
On this occasion, she met the union representatives of the MAEC Cahors Group currently in full social plan.
“Their industrial strategy is being reworked, even if we haven’t really understood Mr. Libert’s project. Mr. Libert must make stronger commitments ”
She was also optimistic about the economic situation of the Lot, which “has an increase in unemployment rates higher than the regional average, but which starts from one of the lowest rates”. In particular, she insisted on the encouraging prospects for the industrial sector. “We have a vigilant follow-up on Figeac Aéro, which has a real industrial project with avenues of productivity diversification. The Matière company too, which has a diversification project in the eolo-floating sector. Indeed, the Matière company is engaged in the manufacture of steel floats for the floating wind turbine project off Port-la-Nouvelle in the Mediterranean.
Still on the economic side, the Region is helping businesses get through the crisis: 187 rents have been reimbursed and 1,547 businesses have been helped by the Loccal fund, four times more than the traditional annual average.
The region committed to trains
Carole Delga also spoke of the situation of Figeac station. “Faced with the inaction of the SNCF, the Region took over. We chose to rebuild, with an amount of 2.7 million works, and we take the opportunity to make it a real place of service to the population with a Third Places project ”she recalled.
Greenway
For the Green Way which raised the debate in the Lot, Carole Delga assured that the Region supported the Department’s project, welcoming that this project preserves public land ownership.
“Having a train serviced on this track is not possible today, it is not reasonable. To those who say that we are in an accounting logic, I remind you that the cheapest TER is that of the Occitanie region ”she supports, adding that free access will be tested for young people between 18 and 26 years old. and that the € 1 tickets for all will be renewed for this summer. For example in the Lot, these € 1 tickets had been a success, with 30,000 tickets sold, a third of which were by young people under 26 years old.
In addition to these actions, to promote tourism in Occitania this summer, a great communication campaign will be renewed, as will the Occ’Ygène card.
Education
Regarding high schools, considered the 1st priority of the Region, € 5,272 per student have been mobilized since 2016 for work in establishments in Lot, in particular for the renovation of the Louis Vicat and hotel high schools in Souillac, and the extensions of the La Vinadie high schools in Figeac and Clément Marot in Cahors.
Note that the Region has no news regarding the availability of saliva tests in schools. However, she specified that the Region had purchased the machines in order to carry out saliva and PCR tests in university sites.
Finally, the 19 Houses of the Region installed throughout Occitania allow teams and elected officials to work as close as possible to the field. The need for this proximity has also been demonstrated since the beginning of the health crisis, with a regional center which adapts according to the economic fabric, associations and needs.
“Strength and proximity, that’s the Occitanie Region” concluded Carole Delga.
